Laura and the Jazz Capsule are a performing and recording duo.

They play standards and original material inspired by 1940s jazz, with a modern twist. Delivering a smooth, cafe jazz ambience and a relaxed atmosphere.

Scoring high on nostalgia, the group provide a vintage experience that is both feminine and light. Reliable and compact, Laura and the Jazz Capsule add a touch of glamour to any occasion. Delivering on their promise to provide the nostalgic soundtrack to new memories.

More than just a band. The ambition is for Laura and the Jazz Capsule to use their high standard of musicianship to engage with others through productions, workshops and community outreach.

After researching fonts from the 1940s, we re-cut a font to suit our needs and set it on an angle to reference the Art Deco style of the era.

The abstract shapes from the sleeves of old jazz records were also a source of inspiration and we adopted a dancing blocks motif to symbolise the rhythm of the music.

The original colour palette was softened and expanded to give more options but also to make sure there was enough contrast to work at a smaller scale on social media.

To represent the romance of the genre and the fact that weddings are a key market for the duo, a heart icon was drawn to hold the wordmark for the primary version of the logotype.

Finally, a fun and modern take on leopard print completes the brand toolkit.

“I’m so excited to have coherent and bold branding that perfectly represents our business. Valhalla were clearly passionate about delivering to a high standard, with good attention to detail and lots of creativity.”
